Didcot RUFC at GWP

A very big thank you to Didcot RUFC, for inviting us up to Boundary Park to watch the 1st XV Match against Littlemore on Saturday 21st October 2017. It was a gritty match, in blustery conditions and despite Didcot losing 10-29, it was very entertaining. Well done to all the players, coaches and volunteers involved.

Everyone is welcome to come and support our very local Rugby Club, on the touch line or even from the comfort of the Boundary Park Bar. The Didcot RUFC 1st XV’s next Home match is on Saturday 4th November 2017 vs. Bletchley.

Aureus Primary School

In September 2018, we will be opening our brand new Aureus Primary School, also on Great Western Park.

We will be opening with a Nursery Class, two Reception Classes and a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class (if there is enough interest on the waiting list, we will consider opening with full Year 1 and Year 2 classes).

Further information about the school can be found on our website – http://www.aureusprimaryschool.org

As you will probably be aware, our Primary School site is in the process of being built so we will be holding our Open Days at the Aureus Secondary School.  Once the site is accessible we will be able to show everyone around.

Please see below some dates for your diaries and an opportunity for you to let us know if you are keen to find out more about Aureus Primary as a school of choice for your child’s primary education in September 2018.

We will share the Aureus vision and values in the Main Hall.  You will have an opportunity to have a guided tour, see our Aureus Secondary site and meet our staff/students.  Prospectuses will be available.

Open Events:

Thursday 2nd November, 9.30 – 11.30 am

Thursday 16th November, 9.30 – 11.30 am

Tuesday 28th November, 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm.

You must register to attend one of these events.  Please reply to this email or contact Rebecca Cooper, Admissions Officer on r.cooper@aureusschool.org giving your child’s name, date of birth and which Nursery your child attends (if applicable).

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2017

The RBL have decided that the Didcot Branch would cover Great Western Park, as the development straddles both Harwell and Didcot.

To help with the Didcot 2017 Poppy Appeal or join the Didcot  Branch, please contact the Secretary:

jrunderwood@virginmedia.com   Tel: 01235 211488

“Each year an army of volunteers throughout the nation distribute the Royal British Legion’s iconic paper poppies, collecting donations in return to help support the vital work the Royal British Legion do for the Armed Forces community.

The paper poppy is a symbol of Remembrance every November to remember the fallen Service men and women killed in conflict.

For many people, Remembrance is associated with the fallen of the First and Second World Wars. While we will always remember and never forget them, there is a new generation of veterans.  The Legion wants to raise awareness of these veterans and Service personnel that need our support.

The Legion help members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reservists, veterans and their families all year round and campaign to improve their lives.  The Legion provides information, advice and guidance to help the Armed Forces community find and access the support they need with online self-help tools, helplines and information and advice centers in many communities.

All members of the Legion share the common cause of supporting our Service community, now and for the rest of their lives.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Legion.  If you can help with the Poppy Appeal or wish to become a member of the Didcot Branch of the Royal British Legion please contact the Secretary.  Contact details above.”
